Doctor of Theology

Columbia Divinity’s Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) program offers students academically rigorous training that views theology as a critical reflection on Christian practice and belief through the lens of Holy Scripture. Students entering the program engage with various theological disciplines such as biblical studies, church history, theology, ethics, homiletics, and Christian formation. The Th.D. at Columbia, like the Ph.D., is a demanding research degree. This program takes between 2-3 years to complete. There is no in-person residency requirement. Total is 60 credits, that is not transferrable to any other program. The $30 registration fee is required - you will receive a digital diploma if you pass.
